The difference between POWDER BROW Permanent Makeup and MICROBLADING

You have surely seen many women with unnatural, stylized permanent makeup brow shapes that over the years have become blue, gray, purple or green.  Microblading has seen mainstream appeal due to its promise of realistic “hair strokes.” Though they indeed look real when first applied, with time and healing the strokes fade, spread, and often look blotchy, loosing their realistic effect.  The Powder Brow technique delivers consistent color and shape, and when healed, provides a soft makeup look that doesn’t wash off.

mWHY DO WE LOVE THE POWDER BROW TECHNIQUE?

LESS INVASIVE

Powder Brows uses a machine powered “nano-needle” which disperses extremely fine dots of pigment into the skin with an airbrush-like look.  Repeated passes allow the artist to create custom shading and depth to the brows, as well as achieve a precise yet soft-edged shape. Though the initial results can be intense, when healed they are soft.

Microblading uses a hand tool comprised of a row of sharp needles that are used as a blade to create narrow lacerations in the skin.  With microblading, it can be difficult to control the overall shape of the brow as well as depth of lacerations.  With necessary touch ups, repeated cuts into the same spots will cause scarring in the skin.

LESS PAIN AND BLEEDING

Powder brows are less painful due to the technique of application and the fineness of the needles.  The pin-point machine work causes less trauma to the skin vs. the cutting technique of microblading which can be deeper and cause bleeding.  With Powder Brows, minimal to zero blood serfaces during the procedure.  Experience has shown that machine work with nano needles can actually improve the skin, encouraging natural collagen production and increased blood flow, often resulting in a boost in hair growth!

LASTS LONGER

Results vary based on lifestyle, skin type, health, preferences, etc., but a single Powder Brow procedure, using high-quality organic pigments, can last on average 2-3 years.

Microblading, on the other hand, has a high likelihood of requiring more frequent touch-ups which generates more trauma to the skin.  Choosing the right method to preserve the long term integrity of your skin is critical.

GREAT FOR ALL SKIN TYPES

Unlike microblading, which is not suitable for oily skin, Powder Brows are great for any skin type!

Microblading on oily skin results in blurry inconsistent color and rapid fading of pigment.

STILL LOOKS SOFT

While Powder Brows have a more consistent “filled in” look, the healed results appear like softly shaded brow pencil or powder.  Immediately after the procedure, Powder Brows will appear saturated and bold.  However, with healing the color fades 20%-40% leaving a soft finish and effortless shape.
